For the past couple weeks, Andrew and I have truly committed to getting to know Bangkok.  We have been mixing popular tourists hot spots with hole in the wall restaurants.  One of our recent "tourist must sees" was Cabbages & Condoms.  Naturally, the name of the restaurant is what brings in the tourists from around the world, but I will be honest, the food is what will keep me going back.  That and the underlying message of the restaurant.

The sign to entice tourists
When we arrived at the restaurant, I was surprised to discover that the "restaurant was conceptualized in part to promote better understanding and acceptance of family planning and to generate income to support various development activities of the Population and Community Development Association (PDA), a non profit organization in Thailand."  The restaurant also heavily supports the education about the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Me and Condom Santa: he is clearly made completely of condoms
The best part is the comical nature of these advertisements.  The restaurant is covered in decorations from sculptures made of condoms to posters of "Condoman."  The walls were also decorated with examples of condom brands from around the world.  Though to be honest, I didn't recognize any of the "US brands."

Andrew and His Condom friend (Tiger Woods)
The food ended up being great!  We had an amazing dumpling appetizer and chicken sweet curry that was spectacular.  At the end of the meal, instead of mints...we got condoms.

Overall it was a great Bangkok Tourist Experience~
