Monthly subscriptions come in all shapes and sizes these days.  From giant nerd boxes to beauty samples, however, my son has always enjoyed the simplest subscription we have.  When my son was born my mother bought us a subscription to highlights baby.  At 2 months it seemed impractical, but the colors were bright and it allowed us a way to read a short little story.

Two years later I am more in love with Hello from Highlights than any other book.  It is small, offers several conversation games and most importantly easily fits into a purse or bag.  It is perfection for long car drives or for the plane.  The pages are also super glossy so food...and spaghetti, roll right off.

Hello magazine delivers colorful images, age-appropriate stories and fun activities parent and child can enjoy together. Mailed cleanly wrapped and made of a safe, durable material with rounded corners and no staples, each 16-page issue encourages quality time together.

Now, LJ is officially too old for it and will be moving up to the next size up, but he still gets super excited for "New One Book."

Hello from Highlights is 12 issues for $34.44 and 24 issues $57.12.  Out of 10 I give it a 7 on quality, 8 on cost, 8 on appropriate for LJ and 8 for fun!  Can always use another book.
