Bookroo is a children's subscription box that provides incredibly unique and high quality books for kids. I love this subscription box because it provides fun and different books I normally would have never seen otherwise for my son.
The first book this month was Penguin Cha-Cha ($15.59 and 5 stars on Amazon). "Follow a determined girl named Julia as she tries to join in the fun of a mischevious group of dancing penguins. Set in The Romping Chomping Park and Zoo, author/illustrator Kristi Valiant creates a vibrant, funny, and spirited picture book that will leave young readers shaking their very own tail feathers." The sketch drawings are great and done in a water color style. My son really enjoyed the story, though for his age it may have been a tad too long and the text too small (printwise).
The next book was Say What? ($11.76) which has been dubbed an INSTANT hit in our house. Though it is only 4.5 stars on Amazon, our son has asked for it almost every night this week and knows and loves reading along with most of words. I may have accidentally skipped the owl page last night and got a stern warning from my almost 3 year old.
"With an interactive text and bright, playful illustrations, explore what baby animals really mean when they make their adorable baby animal sounds.
When a lion says ROAR,
does he really mean MORE?
When a cow says MOO,
does she really mean YOU?
How do we know what animals say when they say what they say with their sounds everyday? With an interactive text and bright, playful illustrations, Angela DiTerlizzi and Joey Chou explore what baby animals really mean when they make their adorable baby animal sounds."
Bookroo is 19.99 a month, 59.99 for 3 months, $104.99. I think the best part of this service is that it provides the opportunity to locate new books.
Overall out of 10, I give Bookroo a 10 on quality, 9 on cost (combined value of $27.35), 8 on appropriate for LJ and 8 on fun!
MILITARY DISCOUNT: Bookroo offers a military discount which can be accessed at this hyperlink of $4.
